Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT)

Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) is a third wave CBT approach, which aims to change your relationship with yourself, by cultivating skills in self-acceptance, bringing understanding and openness to your experiences and self-compassion. It can help those who struggle with the shame and self-criticism that can result from early experiences of abuse or neglect.

As with other CBT models, clients are taught skills and asked to apply them in their own lives, in between sessions and beyond therapy in order to invite change.

CFT has a strong research base in depression and post natal depression and can often be helpful when traditional CBT has not been as effective, and you continue to struggle with a critical relationship with yourself.
