Dr. Payal Amin
I have worked in a range of NHS settings to deliver psychological therapy since 2004. My area of interest lies within the impact our early life experiences have on our development as individuals and how this affects how we think and feel in the here and now. As a result of my own personal experiences, I have a special interest in supporting mothers and fathers struggling with becoming a parent and the challenges this brings, including pre and post natal mental health struggles. I have a lot of experience working with the full range of mental health difficulties and diagnosis traditionally seen within community mental health teams.
However, my interest in working with people and the struggles they face extends beyond any specific diagnosis. My aim is to help you live your life in a way that is meaningful to you, trying to help you address the difficulties you may face along the way. I hope to help you improve your relationship with a number of your experiences, including your emotions, thoughts, responses, as well as more interpersonal relationships with others, and yourself.
I am very experienced in the practice of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which is often recommended for a number of mental health difficulties by the NICE Guidelines issued by the Department of Health. I also have training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) and would be able to apply these models to my work with you where appropriate. As a Counselling Psychologist, I am continually updating my knowledge and practice of evidence-based therapies. The integration of these ideas would always be tailored to your needs, ensuring that therapy delivered is in line with your specific struggles.
I am currently offering face to face therapy and online therapy in line with your preferences. My availability is contained to a Monday between 9am to 5pm. I work with people aged 16 and above.
